Integrate Wayground with Brightspace via LTI as an Administrator

With Wayground integrated into Brightspace using LTI, students can access Wayground resources directly from their Brightspace accounts, minimizing any distractions that may occur when switching between different platforms. Teachers can assign resources and monitor student progress while remaining within the Brightspace platform.

This article will demonstrate how you can set up this integration as an Administrator. Two major steps need to be completed during the setup:

Note: This feature is available for users with Wayground School & District Plans.

Step 1: Getting the integration links from Wayground

  1. Log in to Wayground
  2. Click the 'Admin Controls' button located in the top left of your screen, then select 'LMS Integrations'
  3. Click on ‘Brightspace’
  4. Go to your Brightspace account in a new browser window and copy the entire URL (exclude anything after .com)
  5. Go back to Wayground, and paste the copied URL in the 'Enter your D2L Brightspace URL' field (exclude anything after ‘.com’) 
  6. Click on 'Generate integration'. This will generate the following:
    1. Redirection URL
    2. OpenID Connect Login URL
    3. Target Link URI
    4. Keyset URL
    5. Custom parameters
  7. Keep these credentials and links handy to complete the integration on Brightspace

Step 2: Completing the integration on Brightspace

  1. Log in to your Brightspace account
  2. Click on the settings icon () from the top-right corner of your page
  3. Click on 'Manage Extensibility'
  4. Go to the 'LTI Advantage' tab
  5. Click on 'Register Tool'



  6. Select 'Standard' for 'How would you like to register your tool?'
  7. Now, enter or select information in the required fields as shown below:
    1. Name: Enter the name of the Wayground LTI tool (e.g., Wayground Brightspace LTI)
    2. Description: Enter a description of the Wayground LTI tool
    3. Domain: https://wayground.com
    4. Redirect URL: Copy-paste the URL generated on Wayground (see step 1)
    5. OpenID Connect Login URL: Copy-paste the URL generated on Wayground (see step 1)
    6. Target Link URI: Copy-paste the details generated on Wayground (see step 1)
    7. Keyset URL: Copy-paste the URL generated on Wayground (see step 1)
    8. Extensions: Check () all 4 (Assignment & Grade Services, Deep linking, Names and Role Positioning Services, Platform notification services)
    9. Roles: Check () 'Send Institution Role'
    10. Click on '+Add Custom Parameter'
    11. In the 'Custom Parameters' section, copy-paste the details generated on Wayground (see step 1)



  8. After selecting/entering the information above, click on 'Register'

  9. From the pop-up window, click on 'View Deployments'

  10. Then, click on 'New Deployment'



  11. Now, you will be taken to the 'Deploy Tool' page. Make sure the 'Enabled' button is toggled on, and then proceed to enter or select information in the required fields as shown below:
    1. Tool: Click on the drop-down and select the Wayground LTI tool

    2. Name: Enter the name of the deployment (e.g., Wayground Brightspace LTI Deployment)

    3. Description: Enter a description of the deployment

    4. Extensions: Check () all 5 (Assignment & Grade Services, Deep linking, Names and role positioning services, Platform notification services, Context Copy Notice)

    5. Security settings: Uncheck 'Anonymous' and check everything else

    6. Configuration settings: Check all 3 ()

    7. Scroll down to find the 'Make tool available to' section and click on the 'Add org units' button. This will open a pop-up page



      1. Find your org unit from the list and check () the checkbox placed beside it
      2. Select 'This org unit and all descendants'
      3. Click on 'Add'
    8. Once the pop-up closes, click on 'Create deployment'
    9. From the pop-up window, click on 'View links'. This will open the 'Links' page



    10. Click on the 'New Link' button. Then, enter/select the required credentials: 
      1. Name: Enter a name for the Link (e.g., Wayground Library)
      2. URL: https://wayground.com/admin/my-library/createdByMe
      3. Description: Enter a description of the link
      4. Type: From the drop-down menu, select 'Deep linking Quicklink'



      5. Scroll down, and click on 'Save and close'

The Wayground LTI app is successfully integrated into your Brightspace account. Teachers can now assign Wayground activities directly from their Brightspace course page.
