Create Flashcards for Your Students

Boost your students' ability to remember and retain key information with Flashcards! Get creative and design your own, let Wayground AI do the work for you, or access hundreds of pre-made Flashcards from the Wayground Library.

This article guides you through the various methods for creating and generating engaging and informative Flashcards for your students. 

There are three ways in which you can create Flashcards:

Create Flashcards from scratch

  1. Click on 'Create' in the left navigation pane
  2. Select 'Flashcards'
  3. Click on 'Create from scratch'
  4. Add the necessary text to the front and back of the Flashcard
  5. You can also choose to include images, audio clips, or equations in your Flashcard, and use the available text formatting options
  6. Use the swap icon () to toggle the entered content between front and back 

Once you're happy with your Flashcard, click on 'Save Flashcard' from the top right corner of your screen. Jump to this section for the next steps.

Generate Flashcards with Wayground AI

You can generate flashcards using Wayground AI in four ways:

💜 Wayground AI is still learning and evolving. In some cases, it may generate inaccurate results. Please ensure you review the content generated before publishing it 

Generate Flashcards by pasting any text/content

  1. Click on 'Create' in the left navigation pane
  2. Select 'Flashcards'
  3. Go to the 'Generate with AI' section on the left side of your screen
  4. Click on the 'Paste text' tab
  5. Enter/paste the required content in the text field
  6. Click on 'Generate flashcards'

Generate Flashcards from study materials (documents, images, presentations)

  1. Click on 'Create' in the left navigation pane
  2. Select 'Flashcards'
  3. Go to the 'Generate with AI' section on the left side of your screen
  4. Click on the 'Document' tab
  5. Upload a document from your device or your Google Drive
  6. Once your study material file is uploaded, set preferences by number of flashcards, output language, subject, and grade
  7. Click on 'Generate flashcards'

Enter a prompt or topic to generate Flashcards 

  1. Click on 'Create' in the left navigation pane
  2. Select 'Flashcards'
  3. Go to the 'Generate with AI' section on the left side of your screen
  4. Click on the 'Topic' tab
  5. Enter a prompt or a topic, or paste any text
  6. Set preferences by number of flashcards, output language, subject, and grade
  7. Click on 'Continue'
  8. Now, select or add up to 10 subtopics
  9. Click on 'Generate flashcards'
  10. Click on 'Regenerate with changes' if you're not happy with the generated Flashcards. Otherwise, click on 'Continue to editor'

Generate flashcards from websites or online articles

  1. Click on 'Create' in the left navigation pane
  2. Select 'Flashcards'
  3. Go to the 'Generate with AI' section on the left side of your screen
  4. Click on the 'Article' tab
  5. Enter a website URL in the text field 
  6. Set preferences by number of flashcards, output language, subject, and grade
  7. Click on 'Generate flashcards' 

Convert an Assessment/Quiz into Flashcards with Wayground AI

  1. Select the Assessment/Quiz that you wish to convert into a set of Flashcards
  2. Locate the 'Wayground AI Actions' section on the left side of your screen
  3. Click on 'Generate Flashcards'



  4. Review the converted flashcards
    1. If you want to make changes to the generated Flashcards, click on the 'Edit' button
    2. If you're not happy with the Flashcards and want to discard them, click on 'Discard'
  5. If you're happy with the generated Flashcards, click on 'Copy & Save' 

Modify, enhance, and add more Flashcards before publishing

Once you have created your Flashcards, you can make various modifications and enhancements and add more Flashcards before publishing them or while editing them.

  • To manually add more Flashcards to your set, click on '+ Add Flashcard' and follow steps 4, 5, and 6 from here
  • To generate more Flashcards using Wayground AI
    1. Click on 'Add similar Flashcards (AI)
    2. Once AI generates the Flashcards, review and remove any if desired
    3. Click on 'Save Changes' to add the shortlisted Flashcards to your Flashcards set

  • You can review and edit a Flashcard and make changes to its content, formatting, order, etc., or add an equation and media (image and audio). 


    Note: You can add audio only to the front side of a Flashcard.

  • You can bulk swap all flashcards by using the swap button ()next to 'Swap front with back'



  • You can use Wayground AI Quick Actions (from the left-hand side of your screen) to add similar Flashcards to the set, fix any grammatical errors, translate the content, etc.



  • You can use the AI Enhance button () to make instant changes to a Flashcard, like fixing its grammar, replacing it with another, or translating it into the available languages

Once you're happy with your Flashcards set, click on 'Publish' from the top right corner of your screen. Your Flashcards are now ready to be played in class or assigned as homework!
