Q. What should I do if I see an error message that says 'invalid_redirect_uri' when I try to launch Wayground from Canvas?
A. To fix this, Administrators can:
- Log in to Canvas
- Click on the Admin tab from the left navigation pane
- Select the name of the account
- Go to ‘Developer Keys’
- Edit the Wayground LTI key by clicking on the edit icon (
) and enter 'https://wayground.com/lti/canvas/callback' in the Redirect URI field on the left side of your screen
- Click on 'Save'
Q. What happens if teacher email IDs in Canvas and Wayground accounts are different?
A. Teachers are required to log in directly to Wayground when accessing it via Canvas. This allows them to use their Wayground accounts, which may be associated with different email addresses from those used in Canvas.
Q. How does Wayground handle student logins from Canvas?
A. Wayground creates accounts for students based on their unique LMS user accounts and does not rely on student emails provided by Canvas. This approach ensures student data privacy and provides a seamless login experience, eliminating the need for explicit Single Sign-On (SSO) or additional onboarding steps.
Students can access the Wayground accounts created via Canvas exclusively through Canvas LTI. This student profile remains consistent across all their Canvas courses. If a student is removed from Canvas, they will lose access to their Wayground student account created via Canvas. Logging into Wayground using another method will create a separate Wayground account.
Q. How will sections in Canvas courses affect my Wayground classes?
A. Sections in Canvas courses will be synced into Wayground as a single combined class.
Q. How does this work with Accommodation Profiles?
A. When a teacher opens the Wayground LTI app from a Canvas course, the class syncs on Wayground. Teachers can set Accommodation Profiles for students either from their Classes page on Wayground or while assigning an activity on Canvas. They can also manage which students receive specific assignments using the Canvas assignment settings.
Q. What should I do if my school has the existing (non-LTI) Canvas integration?
A. Administrators can add the LTI integration alongside the existing one. Classes synced through the non-LTI Canvas integration will continue to operate independently of those synced via LTI. Teachers can archive classes to manage any duplicates.
We recommend that teachers assign activities via LTI.
Please reach out to your Customer Success Manager if you wish to remove the older connection.
